Allied Waste provices debris box service for construction
and demolition materials. Debris boxes range from 10-40 cubic yards. Materials
can be commingled or source separated.
The City of Pleasant Hill requires contractors to divert 50% of waste
materials from alndfills if a construction , demolition, or renovation
project is expected to cost $50,000 or more or if it will onvolve 5000
or more square feet of space. To comply, each applicant for a building,
demolition or encroachment permit must submit a Waste Management Plan
(WMP) that includes:
- The total square footage of the area to be constructed or demolished.
- A list of construction and demolition materials to be generated.
- The identitiy of the vendors or facilities that the applicant proposes
to use to collect or receive the material.
- An achnowledgement that the applicant is responsible for meeting the
50% diversion requirement and for the actions of contractors or other
agents in meeting the requirement.

Single-Source, Separated Loads
To create single-source loads, customers must separate debris and construction
material and place each in individual debris boxes, i.e., a debris box
for wood, another for metal, another for concrete and so on.
The following separated materials are accepted for recycling:
- Metal (ferrous and nonferrous)
- Wood - must be clean, no creosote or lead paint
- Lumber - processed wood for building, including dimensional
lumber, lumber cutoffs, engineered wood, wood scraps, pallets, shake
roofing and siding.
- Green Waste - Lawn clippings, shrubbery,
plants and prunings. No tree stumps,no branches over 12" in diameter.
- Concrete - pieces must be smaller than 2 ft. x 2ft.
x 1ft.
- Asphalt - must be clean; no bricks
- Dirt and rocks - clean fill; no sod, no bricks, concrete
or sandstone
- Paper/Cardboard - all paper and cardboard products
Mixed Construction & Demolition Loads
Commingled Loads
For customers who place a mix of construction and demolition debris into
a single debris box, up to 50 percent of the contents can be trash.
The remaining 50 percent must be recyclable materials, which can be a
combination of the following:
- Cardboard no wax-coated materials
- Carpet padding
- Lumber and wood - same types as for source-separated
loads
- Shake roofing
- Metals - same types as for source-separated loads
- Sheetrock, drywall, plasterboard, wallboard
- Green waste - branches and trees, lawn clippings,
brush, prunings
- Painted wood
- Small pieces and quantities of asphalt paving, concrete
and rocks
Unacceptable materials in mixed loads include liquids, heavy steel plates,
concrete tile roofing, creosote treated wood (railroad ties, utility
poles, pressure-treated wood), hazardous wastes, including computer
monitors and televisions.
