POSITION TITLE: Customer Service Representative                   EFFECTIVE DATE: May 2008
REPORTS TO: Customer Service Supervisor/Manager, Office Supervisor/Manager, or Sales Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Responds to and resolves customer service inquiries, requests or complaints. Handles all temporary business inquiries including describing services available, quoting price and selling services.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.

  • Responds effectively and courteously to customer service inquiries, requests or complaints. Returns all customer calls in a timely manner.
  • Notifies the appropriate personnel to respond to the customer's problems and concerns.
  • Researches and resolves issues in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes weekly pricing sheets to price containers for live loads.
  • Determines the appropriate disposal site, using division management guidance.
  • Initiates contact with customers whose containers should be returned, or begin paying rent.
  • Reviews daily reports with the Customer Service Supervisor/Manager, Office Supervisor/Manager, and/or Sales Manager.
  • Enters service and route data into computer for billing and route scheduling purposes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:
Required:

  • Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification and one year customer service experience.

Preferred:

  • 6 month s experience with Allied Waste procedures, products and services.
  • Experience working in a team environment

POSITION SUMMARY: Rides commercial and residential routes to audit operating efficiency and accurate billing, identify opportunities for service increases and identify safety hazards. Recommends improvements or changes based on audit data results.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.

  • Rides commercial and residential routes with drivers and gathers data including, but not limited to, travel times, disposal volumes, service times, collecting times, and accuracy of the route sheet in an effort to reduce route costs and/or improve revenue.
  • Ensures proper customer billing by checking actual weight of container, container size and number of pickups per week. Informs sales, customer service and/or accounts receivable of discrepancies. •
  • Identifies opportunities for additional revenue. Informs sales and/or customer service of revenue opportunities.
  • Utilizes Route Editor program to identify overlapping routes and improve operating efficiency.
  • Identifies safety hazards associated with the routes.
  • Prepares detailed reports of route audit findings.
  • Reviews all audit data and recommends improvements or changes with General Manager and department managers.
  • Recommends container repairs or replacements, as necessary.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:

Required:

  • Equival ent of (1) high school diploma or G.E.D. certification and one year of related waste, distribution or transportation industry experience; OR (2) 5 years of related waste, distribution or transportation industry experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Commercial Driver, Customer Service Representative or Operations Clerk.

POSITION SUMMARY:  Implements and interprets the Division safety program as specified by Region and Corporate policy and Federal/State regulations and guidelines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.

  • Ensures operational management conducts regularly scheduled safety meetings with drivers, shop employees, office employees, and management on safe driving and working principles.
  • Coordinates accident investigations and accident reporting for the division.
  • Ensures driver evaluations and re-evaluations are conducted in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensures drug testing policy meets pre-employment, random and post-accident/post-injury testing, regulatory and company standards.
  • Ensures division managers and supervisors are properly trained in health and safety regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures all accident registers and files, safety and workers compensation records and driver certification files are maintained.
  • Conducts and records employee observations, premise and shop inspections and periodic vehicle safety inspections.
  • Provides accident data, and accident reduction goals to division management.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:

Required:

  • Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification and three years experience in a safety-related position.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health or related field.
  • Waste or transportation industry experience.
